LEED Team

So what's LEED? LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is a set of standards and procedures set forth by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) that allows building to be certified as "green buildings" if they meet certain criteria. To learn more about the general concepts behind LEED and green buildings in general, feel free to visit the USGBC website: www.usgbc.org

The LEED category of the ASC competition has only been added two years ago, and thus is relatively new. The format of the competition has been fairly inconsistent but has been centered around knowledge and understanding of the requirements necessary to achieve specific LEED credits as well as general understanding of Green Building concepts and practices.

The LEED competition generally requires substantially less knowledge of estimating, scheduling and general construction practices and is therefore an excellent place for people who have not competed before and have limited exposure to construction management.

Note: The Cal Construction team will NOT be competing in the LEED category in the 2009-10 school year.
