Hey current Cal ASCE members and alumni alike! This coming Saturday is our annual civil engineering picnic. There will many fun activities involving eating watermelon, races involving 3+ legs, events including the launching balloons filled with water, and much MUCH more!
As always, the food is going to be wonderful: delicious burgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill, tasty snacks and cookies, and satisfying refreshments.
We expect current students, alumni, professionals, faculty, family, and friends alike to join us in this great social event. It should be a lot of fun, and we hope to see you there!

Spanning 14 levels, this will become one of Kaiser's largest and most state of the art healthcare facilities! McCarthy Building Companies will be giving a tour of the project from an engineer's point of view by examining the Hospital's structural and MEP systems, and will be exploring how BIM serves as a tool to facilitate in the coordination and installation of these systems. ASCE will be touring the new Kaiser Permanente Oakland Hospital on April 5th, 2012, at 3pm.

Here is the bio on the speaker:
Jon
Marshall is an associate civil engineer at the Contra Costa Water District, a
public water utility. Prior to joining CCWD, he worked as an
assistant engineer, design engineer, and project engineer at RBF Consulting, a
private civil engineering consulting company. Jon graduated from Cal
Poly, SLO and specializes in the design of water resources and utility
infrastructure and civil site improvements.
